Hello.

On off On Off On. (1 second intervals)
Then two miles later it does it again.
I know i have said this once but is it a service thingy.

As mfarrow asked, is it the actual green backlight that is flashing or the numbers?
Try going into diagnostic mode and see if after the first couple of presses it flashes Dtc and then a number. In case you can't remember, hold in the reset button when starting the engine until tEst appears. Then keep pressing it.

Hello
As i have said. Its the backlight that flashes. Not the number.

How odd. Have you tried the diagnostic thing yet?

Hi
Yes. There are no fault codes. (I disconnected the battery when I had that fuel gauge code)

Well...I'm stumped. Sorry I can't help you although it's at least good that it's only flashing and not breaking down...

I've got a 2001 Fiesta 1.8 Diesel and the odo backlight has always flashed off occasionally. No idea why but there are no adverse effects after 80000 miles.

Hello.
Does it shortly require servicing.

It's absolutely nothing to do with servicing I can tell you that much.

Hello
I went into the ford garage today.
I was told that it is nothing to worry about. They said they Know what it is but it isnt documented for a reason.
Sounds fishy.

Mine does the same (also a W-reg 1.25) although I've never bothered to record at what intervals it occurs. I wouldn't worry about it.
