fiesta trip counter flashing - Ford Dagenham
Hello all.

Wifes fiesta again iam afraid.

she claims the trip counter is flashing every 2-3 miles.

What is causing this.

Its a 1.25 zetec se lx W registered.

All help greatfully apreciated.

When she says flashing, is it flashing the mileage or "dTc" and then a number.

Nothing to do with the little trick we were on abotu ages ago is it?

Hello.

No tricks.

When she is driving along every 2-3 miles the trip counter light goes on and of at timed intervals.

Is this a service indicator as it is not mentioned in the book.

it has a 6006 in dash 6 cd changer actually with 6 speakers.

Back to the point.

What does this times flashing mean.

Do you mean the display back-light? Or does the display itself flash? Does it reset the trip?

What is the 'timed interval'? how many times does it flash before it settles down again? Have you tried sitting at idle to see if it does it? Any more noticable over speedhumps?

On off On Off On. (1 second intervals)

Then two miles later it does it again.

I know i have said this once but is it a service thingy.

As mfarrow asked, is it the actual green backlight that is flashing or the numbers?

Try going into diagnostic mode and see if after the first couple of presses it flashes Dtc and then a number. In case you can't remember, hold in the reset button when starting the engine until tEst appears. Then keep pressing it.

Yes. There are no fault codes. (I disconnected the battery when I had that fuel gauge code)

I've got a 2001 Fiesta 1.8 Diesel and the odo backlight has always flashed off occasionally. No idea why but there are no adverse effects after 80000 miles.

I went into the ford garage today.

I was told that it is nothing to worry about. They said they Know what it is but it isnt documented for a reason.

Sounds fishy.

Mine does the same (also a W-reg 1.25) although I've never bothered to record at what intervals it occurs. I wouldn't worry about it.
