I'm off to look at a Volvo S60 D5 later on today and I need a few purchasing pointers to look for on Diesels engines.

I've no experience with diesels, so I don't know what goes wrong commonly/things to look for.

It sounds a good car, 2003 (03 reg) 2.4D4 S60, in light blue (similar to Gabbiano) with 340Nm of torque at 1759rpm

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh yes, I've read all your road-test review of it and I'll definitely be sitting in the back of it. It's my dad that's buying it, he's moving from a 1994 3.9 V8 Range Rover Vogue SE to the Volvo, so it'll be a huge difference in space.

It's got the geartronic 'box as well. Any pointers on that, or are they reliable enough?
