I read about that on here actually a few months ago. I tried it on my friends brand new Focus. It worked, but he wasn't too happy when he learnt I hadn't tried it before and was his brand new car was being used as a ginea pig!
There's a hell of a lot of diagnostics you can go through: temp readings, rpm, speed... and that's just the ones I can understand :-)

You can just go through all the diagnostics until you get back to the trip (which will now read 0.0) or just restart.

It may well do, I doubt you'll do any harm. I tried it on my '89 escort, but all it did was reset the trip :-(

I tried it on my wifes mk5 and it works on that.
It will work on the last mk4's with digital mileometers
