I have run in a 1.9dc 120 6 speed laguna. Its the same power train.
For the 1st 1000 miles I changed up at about 2.5k revs, pushing it now and again (say every 100 miles or so) to 3.5k revs, but never letting it labour too much in low revs during this time.
For the next 500 miles I changed up at about 3k revs pushing it now and again to 4k revs
After that the floodgates opened and used it to its full as was my wont.
And very nice its turned out too. In the first 18k miles it burnt about 3qtrs litre oil*, and has burnt not a drop to date in the next 14k miles. Its perky and economical so i must have done something right. It gets a regular Italian tune up.
* I still have oil left in the 1 litre bottle I bought when it was new thinking it would need regular top ups at first.

Ah haaa
good reading

Key thing is not to let it labour for the 1st 600 miles or so, better to let it rev a bit high than to be under load at low revs. This is more difficult to do in a TD because the power charecteristics are based on torque at low revs however when running in don't let the sub 2000rpm torque pull you up a hill, instaed change down and dont worry if it revs to 3000 or so. Once it is run in you won't need to use 3000rpm very often due to the low down torque.

RF, out of curiosity, did your fuel consumption increase after the first "run - in"?
My Scenic has done about 5000 miles so far but a lot of it is stop-start short journeys. However only averaging about 42mpg?
|
BobbyG - Its very variable. I get about 44 mpg with the old stop start short journey scenario, its not until you get to stretch its long lazy legs (ie high 5th and 6th gears) on 60 mph+ runs that you hit the mid to high 50's
Yours is slightly lower geared, so if you have had mostly short urban runs I would say its not bad.
Perfomance really gets going tho after its run in.
|
Thanks for that RF, I am very impressed with the performance so far so if it has still to "get really going" then I look forward to it.
I am not a fast driver but the torque it has to overtake on motorway etc is great.
Hoping to get a longer run next month, down to Stone and back so may get a better reading on the mpg front then.
