I have 1993 1.0 XN Plus (my sons) which "bunny hops" after a longish period of deceleration. I.e. change down to 2nd toward a roundabout then either does;nt want to accelerate or bunny hops violently, blip the throttle hard with foot on the clutch usually clears it. It seems fine from cold only appears to happen when warm/hot. Also when hot it is ticking over too fast (no rev counter) guess 1200 rpm. No problems otherwise pulls well and will cruise at French autoroute speeds! Had to replace the head gasket when we first go it but ran fine for quite a long time after. No sign of oil in water or vise-versa. Stepper moter seems ok temperature sensor seems to change resistance with temperature. Bosch single point injection. Any ideas ECU throttle/injection, stepper/pot, sensor or wiring? Help please, driving me balmy!!

You have checked some of the obviuos and you have not mentioned it does it whilst accelerating so you nees to remove the cam cover vent system and the pipework to the inlet manifold and clean the junk out with white spirit the ERG valve gets all junked up and doesn't allow the engine to breath properly do not use compressed air as you can damage the diaphagm. Try than and remove, carefully the HT leads and measure their resistance , should be about 1.1k per ft. I have often found these at 30 and 30 k ohms when hot due to oxidization of the copper the steel crimp type connection around the composite HT lead end. Having said all that I'd not sure about the high tick over problem.I'l think about it some more with a manual infront of me. Regards Peter

Thanks Peter. I will check the air cleaner cover where it has the pipe to the maifold. The pipe itself is new and the rocker box cover is also clear. Not entirely sure tried so many things! but I'm pretty sure I tried it with the throttle body open to the air & made no difference. I don't think it's electrics it is predictable and feels like fuel starvation or wrong mix. Always starts well never misses a beat apart from in these circumstances. Also the high idle happened at the same time so I think it's a symptom of whatever is wrong. Cheers Anthony
