For info. My 2002 1.9dci Megane hatch diesel is £115 annual tax - Band A for diesels on DVLA website. I assume a Scenic would be similar.

I should add if registered after 1st March 2001. www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/taxation.htm#Private/Ligh...0(Vehicles%20registered%20on%20or%201st%20March%202001)

dear victor
im after a diesel one of these perhaps r s t reg , i realise yours is newer have you had any probs with your car,

my neighbour found a hairline vrack in his gearbox yesterday which is costing him 1000 to fix, that put me right off one of these.

All diesels pre 2001 registration pay the standard rate of £165.

Not with the engine which has plenty of grunt, but is a little on the rough/noisy side compared to the latest diesels. MPG is always on the right side of 50mpg however much I thrash it. This is the previous model Megane. The build quality of the rest of the car leaves a lot to be desired! It is a company car, so I'm not really worried but it came with numerous bits of boot trim missing and little things like exterior door handles have had to be replaced under warranty.

Hmm - after a new air filter, my diesel was only just registering on the emissions test. I'm sure that it will continue polluting for many years to come, even if I'm still paying 165 quid in road tax.

Incidentally, do buses have to pass an emissions test? Some around Leeds can envelop you in clouds of thick black smoke.
