Does anybody know what is 'fuel tank lifter pump'. Sometime ago HJ thought the fuel tank lifter pump on my Seat Ibiza was failing.how much would it cost to have this repaired.
any thoughts most appreciated

It just means the pump that gets fuel out of the tank as opposed to a high pressure pump on a common rail diesel system. These pumps are often inside the fuel tank. No idea on cost but if it is a pump in the tank, then there will be a bit of labour involved.

Eurocarparts sell them for Seats, they have a website, the url is obvious.
It will be a small pump on the fuel pickup/guage sensor assembly which bayonet? its into the top of the tank. Most cars have an inspection panel in the boot under the carpet to gain access, replacing is quite easy, just be careful of causing a fire, and make sure no dirt from the top of the tank falls, in so clean well, before disassembly.

Sorry to be a pedant Schnitzel but shouldn't that read "be careful to not cause a fire"?
