Nut lock on cam tensioner? Citroen Saxo. - Carl2
Boring wet afternoon so I decided to change the cam belt on the wifes 8v Saxo. Just about to put it back together when I noticed I was out of nut lock. Local Halfords have run out (typical) and all other outlets now closed. Should I wait till tomorrow to get some or just put it back without putting anything on the threads?

Hi Carl,

Did the fastener in question have any thread locking substance on it from new?

If not, then it doesn't need it. If it did, then it does.

None on at moment. Perhaps its a lack of confidence but I always use nut lock on tensioners . I,ve never seen nut lock specified so I expect I,m just being neurotic.

Hi Carl,

I think you are right to be cautious.

If everything that this fastener fastens is clean and well seated, and the fastener itself is in good condition, and it is then torqued up correctly, you will be very unlucky to have a problem.
