Rover 45 Turbo diesel problem - daveyjp
My boss owns one of the above - just three years old. The car is lacking power on inclines, almost as if the turbo isn't kicking in and he has to drop down to second and in some cases 1st gear. The car accelerates on flat roads no problem. No obvious black smoke from back end. His local garage cannot detect any probs using diagnostics. Anything obvious he should check?

Check there's not a banana in your tailpipe....

No seriously, a blocked exhaust could be the problem, or check the air intake and turbo hoses to make sure they're fitted properly and not split.

Faulty MAF sensor

Check the obvious firsst - disconnected intercooler rubber pipes are also common, the giveaway is loads of smoke and no power with a loud whistling noise.
