K-Series anti-freeze - Doc
In view of the recent discussions on the importance of a good cooling system to protect the head gasket on the K-series, is the choice of AF important?

I tend to use Halfords AF (which has the relevant BS number) on my cars.

I would think that using the correct Rover Group product would be a wise investment on these cars. Not sure if it's the type that's needs diluting first, if it is suggest draining and adding the neat solution then top up with distilled water.
Never add tap water. Others may know better.

Regarding tap water, I've heard that it's possible to get all sorts of rubbish into the cooling system if care is not taken to use a clean hose or (better still) a watering can.

Not sure about the general principle of using tap water though.

All antifreeze that meets the relevant BS specs will be fine.

After 2000MY, OAT type AF was used.....don't mix the two.
