Anyone any experience of removing pine tree resin from the bodywork on my car? Three distinctly sticky blotches (or should I say "splodges"...)on roof and bonnet resulting from a recent camping trip to Landes region of SW France.
Any help much appreciated.

try some of that citrus cleaner!

First try very hot water with concentrated car shampoo. I would imagine Autoglym Super Resin Polish would get it off with several goes at it unless you mean it has deeply stained the paintwork rather than a sticky goo on the surface. I've used WD40 for all sorts of cleaning on the car including tar spots on plastic and getting chewing gum off upholstery, so if the polish doesn't do it try carefully experimenting with WD40 followed by a good polish.

Agreed. Orange peel cleaner followed by (if it doesn't work) wd40.

Whatever you do, be quick, or it will polymerise by action of sunlight and air, and form hard varnish deposits that are near impossible to shift.

If desperate, you might consider trying genuine turpentine (not white spirit) which is I believe a distillate of pine sap and should therefore ne a natural solvent for pine resin. Check it doesn't damage your paint somewhere unobtrusive!

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone. Once again, the BR demonstrates its immense value as a vast resource of quality advice!
