Please

Why does my car ( as above ) keep poppping distributors. I'm now on my third in 6 months at £ 124 a go and this is hurting .

I've been told my immobilizer system is surging the low tension curcuits. Could this be the case ?

Is this Possible ? Are 1988 RS Turbos liable to these problems ?
I know these cars were a sort of cross roads cars with some old and some very new technology but does anyone know if immobilizer systems can cause such nasty trouble ?

Any help will be much appreciated

By popping do you mean blowing the amplifier/trigger? If so is it the 3 bolt dizzy or the 2 bolt. If 3 bolt take it out and find a local Ford specialist who'll sell you a 2 bolt dizzy and conversion cable this stops the problem. If its 2 bolt ones that you're blowing then check the connections and earths properly as they normally don't give any real problems.

Thanks Jim,
I have noticed a spade type connector on the two bolt dizzy with no wire connected. I cannot see any wire in the loom which looks like it should be stuck on the spade. My Haynes manual does not mention any earth on the dizzy body.
Do you know if there should be a direct earth on the dizzy? Many thanks.

I may be wrong but.Thought an earth connection was there.ie spade cable connected to engine.there should be a direct earth from dizzy.but may be confusing 87 type.as this had it?
