hi ive got a 1.8 ls vectra ecotec 5sp manual
when you accelerate it lower revs its really juddery, changed plugs and run it on expensive petrol as well. last night i noticed a pipe which runs from the top left hand side of the engine and joins the big pipe which runs from air filter to the inlet. it has torn almost half way around, what does this air pipe do, and could it be the reason its running so juddery.

sunroof is really stiff to close and seems to drag along abit on one side, like the other side is doing all the work when you close it, had a look inside myself, totally bemused now.. any ideas anyone.

The pipe is probably the engine breather pipe which pumps oil fumes and smoke back into the injection system and subsequently pushed out through the exhaust after it's been back through the combustion chambers. If it's split, then it's causing air to enter the injection system and making the engine run rough.
Have you tried oiling the runners on the sunroof? Note, only a small drop of oil mind, otherwise it'll go everywhere.

Petroleum jelly is my favourite for keeping the sunroof sweet running - it doesn't drip either.

i thought it was the breather pipe actually but with all the wires and ecu and data recorders and black boxes and hal type computers underneath a bonnet these days, i didnt want to make myself look any stupid than i am. so i didnt call it that.
i maight ring up vauxhall and see how much it is if thats what you think it is.

Dont bother calling the dealers, they will end up charging you a fortune for the repairs and then they will fit the wrong part! Try going to car transplant places or car salvage and get the part for a couple of quid.
I had the same problem on my vectra 2.0 SRi a new breather tube, engine is ok now.

Breather pipe is approx £6.I don't think you need to go to breakers for this!!!

Does it just judder when you accelarate from a standstill, or doe sit judder under acelearation at any speed ??
Only ask, as mine is doing the same, but only on setting off. A couple of minor judders and then sets off ok

judders one exceleration and while driving
its annoying cos in 3 years its never even had a tyre
yet in here they get slagged off something terrible
i think i will try and get the pipe myself, this weekend and put it on, it doesnt appear blocked but its got a real tear in it half way along
