Is there anywhere on the internet I can find detailed depreciation data for cars? Obviously it will be predicted but for example I'd like to know roughly how much a Mondeo TDCi, C5 HDi, Passat TDi etc would be worth at 3,4 and 5 years old.

What Car gives esimated retained value after 3 years.

Autoexpress publish % retained figures each week. They do move frequently.
Autocar publish
For example from the 15 June 2004 AutoExpress (3yrs unspecified miles) edition: 22 June Autocar (3yrs 30k) in brackets. Similar vehicles were possible,
C5 HDI 2.0 VTR 32% (43)
Mondeo TDCI Zetec 115 35% (46)
Pug 407 2.0 HDI 40% (46)
Avcensis D4D T3-S 45% (43)
Vectra 1.9 CDTI 33% (42)
Passat 1.9 TDI 40% (53)
Remember that they are % based on full list price, so your Citroen may be cheapest in real life due to massive discounts. A new Passat will dent future %'s.
Most of these cars are aimed at the same people, one may have higher depreciation, the other higher maintenance costs.
Buy whichever you like the most.

Alliance & Leicester do an annual Car Depreciation Report. Try a Google (or other) search. I believe it was severely critised regarding the methodology by one or two manufacturers - surprise, surprise!

Speak to the dealer for each model and ask for a finance quote which will be based on a guaranteed future value, then compare with the data published in the above.
