Cross Channel Ferry Prices Slashed - stackman
Went to book a day-trip to France and notice that all cross channel comapnies on the Dover Calais route have slashed their prices. Aparantley this follows a move by Eurotunnel.

For example we booked in January for a 17 day trip in August and were happy with the quote of £162. Had we booked in May that price would have been £340.

Now they will book it for £142.

Our day-trip on Eurotunnel this week will cost £56, 5 day returns are around £100.

Don't know how long this offer will last. We have used ferryoffers.co.uk and have not been disappointed.

A long time ago I purchased £600 of P&O stock at afixed 4.75% interest which also gives you 50% discount on all P&O products excluding special offers. My upcoming long stay booking Dover Calais cost £106 the best savings are on the Hull Rotterdam and the cruises where savings can amount to a lot of money. For someone who travels on ferries or cruises alot it is worthwhile investment.

I too bought 600 units of P&O stocks, but at a cost of close to £1k last year.

I see it as a long term investment - I'll easily get more savings from this concessionary rate that I would if I put it away for a rainy day :-)

The dividend is a good % too - so its like a savings account anyway!

I investigated the share purchase as I make about 5 crossings a year (3/4 long weekend, 1 x 2 weeker). I discounted it as I can usually pick up a special offer which saves as much if not more than owning shares.

Oh, and the ferry companies are feeling threatened by the new company (speedferries?) which is vastly undercutting their cartel pricing...they have made vociferous complaints
