Hope it is OK to post this.

He will be mad. I borrowed his car (mine was in the shop) and parked under some trees overnight. Sticky sap fell on it and has like eaten the paint a bit. I tried some Turtle Wax sap remover he's got but it doesn't work and definitley the paint has been eaten in about 6 places, not big but it doesn't look good. It's black metallic paint so it shows. Is there anything I can do? Yes he's going to find out anyway, I know. Maybe if I could say I tried :+(

Help!

The only way out of a situation like this is to lie. Settle him down with a drink and tell him about the news item you saw today about acid rain.

He might just fall for it...

You know you can use your womanly charms to soothe him down - plus a large J.D. or two!

You have done the only thing you can, you have told us. Now we all know, if he is horrible about it he will be told off by one and all of us. You have the entire back room protecting you.

Get him to take you out to a nice restaraunt. Suggest he parks the car under some trees to keep it out of the shade and, then tell him he shouldn't have listened to you because he should have known the sap would have damaged the paintwork in this way.

Your secret is safe with us!

Could it really do that much damage overnight? Blimey you must have serious sap out there!

I think you have two options...

1. Don't mention it at all, and deny all knowledge when he eventually notices - how often does he examine the roof of his car?!

2. Confess all, but do it in tears. He wont be able to get angry. Never fails.

PoloGirl,

You have gone too far. Tears are unfair, You ought to be ashamed.

Yes - you'll be advocating using the "you dont love me any more" weapon.

You have learned the type of life lesson most of us do - the hard way.

At least even money that Growler has learned the same lesson the same way - just needs reminding - gently gal.

Yes, this sap is serious stuff, I don't know what kind the trees are I just parked it overnight outside the hotel because I been bar-hopping with my girl friends just on vacation from their jobs as Japa-yuki in Japan and we took a room there but not to drive home (too much karaoke and rum n coke all of us) so I didn't notice till I got back home and washed it (lots of rain here last few days). Only little spots but really they have eaten through the paint. You can feel it with your finger. Car 9 months old only also.

Tears don't work with Big Stuff. Mess with his car, even touch his Harley he says like putting ice in your beer its a capital offence.

Late night here now. I think after I go to church in the morning I will just tell him and confess!

Anyway to keep it on motoring I would just say be careful where you park. Modern paint maybe not so good as the older ones.

Next time Growler comes on here telling us why Britain is such a bad place to live, we will all think of tree sap!!

It isnt uncommon here in England.many a car has been clobbered with this sap.it will destroy paintwork.I see no reason why Growler will lose his top.He seems reasonable enough and he cannot undo what has happened.bear in mind it could well be worse as I have seen cars totally covered and paint destroyed.look on the bright side just a few minor blobs I think he should be thankfull the whole car wasnt covered. As previously mentioned back room is behind you.take care

Growlette, what is a Japa-yuki?

And don't worry about the sap stains. Judging by Growler's other thread, he'll have forgotten about it by tomorrow :-)
Besides, it's only a lump of metal.

Sori po not motoring. Japa-yuki is a nightclub hostess in Japan. Many Filipinas take the job, good money and get vacation every 6 months. But only up to about 23-24, after that too old. Must speak Nippongo also, obviously.

So no good for me.

Well he looked at the marks on his car I was scared to tell him but I did anyway and he is very cranky. Said he will go to Ford on Monday to see if they can repair. I know its my fault because it's nearly a new car. Thanks God not his Harley, I don't know what he'd do, that thing is so clean you would not believe.

Thanks all for the support! Difficult to live with foreign partner but what to do he takes care of me.

Hi Mrs G - judging by the way in which G 'talks' about you I doubt he'll be too cross.

Anyway, look at it like this, these things happen sooner or later so you've probably saved him months, even, years of worry about his unblemished paintwork.

Hmph. I see Miss Philippines has usurped my nick for the purpose of posting and gaining sympathy through underhand means as a defence against her misdemeanours with my car. When that lot get on the rum n coke and the videoke machine after a session on the sushi, yakitori, tempura and all that other Nipponese tucker, Celine Dion let me tell you you have nothing to worry about.

I am extremely strict about DUI (in a country where there is no enforcement) and she knows that so at least they all had the good sense to check into a motel and call me to say so. Better the sap marks than something worse.

I knew something was afoot when I got my favourite Aussie sausages for brekkie cooked by herself and not by the housemaid.

You Br-er's are a bunch of pussies. You're all a pushover for a pretty girl with a sob story. Whose side are you on anyway?

Check your friendly Motor Factor G. Some polish/wax preparations supposed to contain colourant that may bring it back to normal.

However considering your neck of the woods may be cheaper to get an Air brush expert to repair. (Bastu"s helmet?)

Tku DVD. Yes I have that Turtle Wax chipstick (in black, looks like my daughter's lipstick from her Gothic slut Marilyn Manson phase....) along with black polish. Will try that.

Shame. I really do like the metallic finish, even if it goes by the ludicrous name of "Panther Black". Well I suppose they had to call it something, and you can still talk about animals of a certain colour as opposed to upsetting the PC brigade.

"Bastu"s??" Pls explain. "Bastos" has a definite meaning in Tagalog.

Maybe RF has it right, you live in constant fear and stress that your new pristine car will be scarred in some way. Eventually when it is, after the initial angst, you get used to it and feel as though a great weight has finally been lifted......

..not that I'm letting her off the hook just yet. Another couple of days of penitent expressions and give me a neck massage and surely you must have noticed my beer is finished and I need another won't do any harm.
