Hi,
I'm looking to buy a second-hand car (<£2k) with a large load carrying capacity and i'd really appreciate some recommendations.
As i live in the centre of Glasgow, I get hammered by the insurance company and so it would have to be a low insurance group (Pref <6). I'll also be doing some long trips down south every few months but as the cost of these would be shared fuel economy isn't so important.
Cars i've considered so far are:
Skoda Felicia Estate (seem to be rare)
Nissan Almera
Any more ideas?
Many thanks,
Damian

An Astra with an Isuzu diesel engine - more reliable than the petrols. You might even squeeze into an early, high mileage new shape from 98 if you don't mind a white, poverty spec one.
There's no such thing as an Almera estate, so although it looks a bit like one, it's not actually that practical.

I'll second the previous shape Astra estate with diesel by Isuzu. Also consider the Nissan Sunny estate (but very rare) and Peugeot 405 estates, which seem to fall in very low insurance groups despite their physical size. With these, again, diesel is the better bet for reliability.

Not sure if you would get one for £2k, but have a serious look at Citroen ZX Estate. I ran a turbo diesel (bought from Machargs in Finnieston) and it was a dream of a car. Ins , I think, was 7.

Many thanks for the advice,
Will look into your suggestions.
