Hi all,
i have an electrical fault on my rover 416 tourer, the fuse that feeds (according to the fuse cover!) the front wiper/wash keeps blowing, it also appears to stop the electric roof working??
any ideas?
thanks in advance

Whats the value of the fuse?, What are you using when it blows?
Anything else not work when the fuse blows?

it is 20amp, no, as soon as i switch ignition on, it blows immediately.
I have no front wipers, no radio, no electric sunroof

Ah you have a dead short somewhere. Check the wiring loom for those items fed from that fuse, where it it passes thro bulkheads, is clipped to the body etc etc. look for chafed insulation.

Can you use an electrical multimeter? Take out the fuse poke one end of the meter lead and one end of the fuse socket to car earth. There should be 12 volts on one end of the fuse socket. Measure the resistance to earth on the non live end of the socket, then disconnect things (like sunroof motor, radio etc) or wiggle wireing loom till the resistance goes up again.

many thanks,
thought that too, am a qualified electrical engineer(not a auto-electric specialist though), so will take your advice and do that resistance test, thanks,
needle in a hay stack time then!
thanks

Volts is Volts mate, they all work the same way.
