Buying A Car In France - NitroBurner
A friend of mine is moving to France next year & he wants to buy a Citroen Berlingo later this year.

Does anybody know how he goes about buying one in France, registering & insuring it there whilst still a resident in England? He wants to use it here before he moves over there.

Quite complicated I know...

Is this possible?

Any help is much appreciated.

Pretty sure that you need a french address before you can buy a car in France - it has to be registered to/through the local Prefecture in the district in which you reside. You may also entounter insurance problems for the same reason.....

IIRC (or rather, if I was told correctly - you may take this with as many pinches of salt as you think appropriate) you also need French utility bills as proof of address. Might be tricky for him.

Sorry, I should have said before, he has a French address.

I should imagine the biggest problem will be insurance...
