Has anyone had experience of buying a car from Drive the Deal? I\'m currently looking at buying a new UK sourced VW Touran, the deals through online brokers look very attractive. However I\'ve had a bad experience some time back when buying through a broker. Thanks for any pointers...

I bought my A4 from UK Car Broker following a HJ news article on this site and subsequent follow up. Good price offered from the Broker who then passed the deal on to an Audi dealer in the Midlands. They were good and negotiated further.
Local Audi dealer tried to get close but because the brokers effectively give you a fleet type deal (you will deal with the fleet guys in the showroom eventually which suprised me - they work Mon-Fri, etc.) they couldn't satisfy me and ended up about 5% off.
Car eventually delivered to my house (100 miles away) on the back of a trunk with a full tank. Very happy with process and wouldn't hesitate to use again.
Thanks HJ

I bought my Civic R via DTD in March. No problems with their service at all - they processed the order efficiently, took my details over the phone and the dealer contacted me directly from there. DTD's quotes are all-inclusive on-the-road prices, but exact specification and options should obviously be clarified with the dealer.
The only potential snag is that the location of the supplying UK dealer isn't necessarily going to be convenient, so it may be necessary to make a relatively long trip to collect. Free delivery was an option, but I didn't want anyone putting 130-odd miles on my brand new car.
Recommended for someone who wants a UK sourced car with full warranty, knows exactly what model they require and is too busy / lazy to play local dealers off against each other. Of course, there's nothing to stop you taking the quote to your dealer and asking them to match it...

Burnout, do you mind me asking what sort of percentage discount you got off the list price when you bought the R?

Around 8% - pretty much equivalent to getting A/C & metallic for free. I'm sure I could have got within £500 of this via my local dealer, but I wanted a competitive price with zero effort on my part. The fact that I'd also been less than impressed with the sales / service of several local dealers was also a factor.

I have just ordered a VW Touran via a broker which is due to be delivered in the next two weeks. I scoured the internet for deals that would give me a good trade-in on my current car. The best deals I found were from Coast-to-coast cars(based down South) and Broker4cars (based in Derby). As I live in Cheshire, I chose the latter
www.broker4cars.co.uk/pricewindows/vw/touran.htm
The process was amazingly simple: they offer a flat 9% discount on all list prices for the car and optional extras. I rang Gary Bain who gave me a reference number and the telephone number of the Fleet Manager of the local VW dealership in Derby. When I contacted her and quoted my reference number, she ordered my car in exactly the same way that my local VW dealer would, only for 9% less. Her trade-in price for my Ford Galaxy was identical. I haven't paid a penny to broker4cars. The service so far from VW Parkway has been excellent with weekly e-mails to inform me of the car's build week and progress.
So far so good, particularly as the import deals from Europe have all but dried up.
Hope this is of some use.
