Brighton Garage - Greg R
Can anyone recommend a good garage in the Brighton or surrounding area who can service my car. I am looking for an honest garage, who charges reasonably and has an excellent knowledge of cars.

I would prefer an independent garage, since most main dealers charge the earth and many have fixed price servicing which is more of a gimmick than anything else.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Note that the HJ recommendations does not include the e. sussex area.

I've had good service from Westbourne Motors in Haywards Heath. They don't try things on (once when I had a suspected head gasket failure after a coolant blow-out on the M23). They took the car in, pressure tested it, took it for a 10 mile test drive, and pronounces it OK, all for £25. No problems since and that was nearly a year ago.

They've got branches around West Sussex.

Other garages I've heard good reports of (in Haywards Heath)
are Lindfield Motors and Parkers, both in Bridge Road. Elite Garages are good for tyres, exhausts and routine servicing.

I use a garage in Hove called Yelboc & Farncombe Garage
- in Brooker Street, just off Blatchington Road. 01273 326504

Its two guys who know a lot about a number of cars and have usually seen everything. I picked my car up yesterday, and they were working on an Aston Martin!

When I took my car in for a new internal CV joint, they checked the whole of the front suspension, brakes etc aswell - all included.

Whilst you're there, you could pop into my restaurant - Thai Connection just on Blatchington Road! ;-) (I'm there every evening after 4!!)
