Slugish Focus TDCI - james S
Just had my Focus TDCI serviced (major 2 yr job)
The acceleration is now appaling like the turbo is disabled or something. It also smokes now which it never did before. I am taking it back next week. Any ideas as to the cause in the mean time? It evebtually gets to the desired speed but the usual urgeny has totally gone.
I have come up with either
Turbo fault
Lack of air somewhow
Fuel problem
Electronics (the accelerator is not directly connected to fule pump but goes via fly by wire control.

Suspect the turbo bearings have gone, allowing oil to be sucked into the inlet manifold. The service may just have excacerbated an existing problem , usually caused by previously infrequent oil changes.

Are you sure? Seems rather a major fault on a 2yr old car!

I would suspect that the techies have dislodged a connection, either air or electrical.

my money is on the egr valve stuck open, a fairly common problem on the mondeo tdci. Let us know- and good luck!
