I have a astra 1993 1.4, the bhp is 60, I heard i could increase the bhp by kitting out with a k + n air filter can any one tell if they are effective and also do they improve the fuel consumption, also which ones are the best.

Forget it. In your position the best way to increase power would be to change your car. An induction kit will just make a noise.

I thought the same as you when i had a 1.2 clio. Induction kits do sound cool, but my car was quicker without it and used a lot less fuel without too.
