I have a scooter (majesty 125cc), and the only fault is that the lights are very weak. For town, they are fine but once outside town they really do a bad job.
My subsequent question is, what can I do to improve the lights? I have thought of adding extra lights, but I cannot see where I can put them and am anxious they may drain the battery.
What is on offer that will improve this?

Check what headlight bulb you've currently got. I had a 45/50w non halogen H4 bulb in my Honda 125cc, and replaced it with a 60/55w H4 halogen bulb. Made a world of difference.

Fit a halogen bulb if you can. But depending on the bulb holder, an H4 bulb may not be an option. My wife had a Yanaha SR125 with weak lights, and there was nothing I could do, as a halogen bulb was not available to fit the lamp holder. Fitting additional light may be difficult. Yes, you've got to find somewhere to fit them, but your existing light switch may not take the additional current, and you'll have to fit a relay... Also, the alternator might not have enough power to run the extra lights and charge the battery.

Before going out and buying new lamps etc, try taking taking the bulb, fuse and relay out and giving all the contacts a good clean. That can often make a significant difference to a bulbs brightness

I have seen my mechanic and he did say that halogon lights was an option. However, he said it may drain the battery.
How true is this, especially if I use the machine for longer journeys?

I have a halogen bulb in my motorbike in place of the 45/40w standard, plus heated handlebars and a fog lamp. The alternator handles it no problem.
I do 2 x 40 miles per day.
However, on the scooter it is possible to run the battery down by doing short journeys with only standard equipment since there is not time to replace the drain from starting.
