Vinyl roof a la Cortina - Craig_1969

I have a nasty scrape in my roof as the result of a multi storey carpark/roof rack interface in a Benny Hill moment, in fact I expect to be on You've Been Framed shortly. As I intend to keep my Passat until its death circa 250k miles I didn't bother to claim on my insurance. It does look a little untidy though, does anyone know of a vinyl roof kit I could apply to lose the dent and tidy up the appearance of the car somewhat?

I suspect that we are talking a new roof. I work above a bodyshop and most roof repairs seem to involve chiseling the roof off and welding a new one in place. I thought a black roof wouldnt look too bad.

It would be a better idea to get it repaired.As it in most cases makes the dent/scrape look worse.also bearing in mind when it comes to selling the car the value may be much less due to the roof having the vinyl.after all you cannot see how much damage is being covered up.plus they are not easy so fit correctly.unless you have fitted one before you could do more harm than good.

I`ve heard it all before.at the end of the day he will like most
want as much for it as poss when px`ing.unless it is a dog and is totally knackered.but doubt that.I havent seen one in a scrapys yet at least not round my way.stand by what I said.as I dont see it reaching scrap yard.and vinyl is not a good idea.
thats my opinion...

I don't think anything, mech1. I'm sure you're right if he comes round to px ing it. But if it really is dead (as he says) then it's not going to make much difference!

sorry mapmaker nothing was mentioned about it being dead.as was present mileage.so I don`t have any idea what the present mileage is as come to that age of motor.unless I missed something.plus damage wasn`t specified ie roof frame damaged if so that would be more of a write off.if so it should not be on the road.if only skin damage should be able to repair.as mentioned before.

There used to be a firm that could spray it on-even with the seams-but,unfortuneately,I can't remember the name-perhaps someone else can.
