quick question - just taken the under body protective cover off my audi 1998 A6 1.8T to do an oil change for the 1st time. but cannot locate the sump to drain it. excuse my ignorance but can anybody help!

First thing that springs to mind is that there should be an access hole with blanking plate in the undertray that you have removed. The sump drain plug should lie directly above where this would be if you replaced it, if you understand what I mean.
Presumably you can see the engine from underneath, the sump will be the lowest point of the engine.
Don't tell me that Audi have gone for no drain plug, and you must suck the oil out of the dipstick using a special pump......

at £85 an oil change from my audi dealer id rather have a go myself! took the tray off earlier on and located sump (thanks ivor)put a spanner on it but it wont budge at all. any ideas?
bring back my old golf ...now there was a car you could easily work on!
