Hi, I have had skidding sounds last few months releasing the clutch when pulling away in 1st gear. The head mecanic at my local Nissan dealer test drove it this morning and says the cluch has worn out. To my slight surprise he said he didnt know if it has a DMF or not, though I kind of assume with it being a small petrol engine it doesn´t? Does anyone know for sure ?To change just the clutch with them its 900 Euros but 1600 Euros to change the DMF as well. Any advice re this welcome.
It seems a bit odd to go ahead with the clutch change not knowing or not until its all dismantled and with such a big potential change in cost. To be fair it was me who raised the issue of a DMF or not so maybe it isnt relevant for this model ?
The back story on this is that its 11 and a half years old but it has genuine low milage, 61 thousand km. I did feel the clutch was a bid odd (stiff and v high) when I bought it this year in May, and I almost didnt because of it, and this summer in some hills, I admit that I could well have burnt the clutch a fair bit myself reversing back up a steep slippy single track lane one time (there was a car and trailer coming the other way!). So though not much km, I might have added to the premature wear myself. Basically it isnt a surprise. Cheers
