Ford Fiesta Zetec 2009 - Front window screen washer stopped working. - Johngalaxy

When I push the button on the end of lever to use the screen wash for the front window nothing happens. The wipers don`t move and no water comes out at all. I cannot hear the water pump working.

The wipers move ok if I use the lever manually.

Any advice on how to fix this problem will be greatly appreciated.

The rear washer and wiper is working ok, no problems.

That rules out the pump , as it’s the same thing for front and rear. Really needs some more diagnostics on the system to establish what’s going on. Is this the current model fiesta or previous?

My mechanic run a power test coming from the screen wash button on the stalk to the connector block that connects onto the water pump, and it was reading 12 volts.

We assumed that there was a fault on the water pump, so we bought a brand new water pump.

Nothing has changed with my fault, rear washer working fine, front washer not working even though there is 12 volts coming from the button on the stalk to the connector block going into the water pump.

Any advice will be appreciated.

It was never going to be the pump if the rear washers worked, did your guy test the old pump off the car?

Still think it's a poor contact...

Yes he put it in a bench vice and run power through it and it was working fine.

Think you need to find a mechanic that understands how the system works. It’s not a straightforward system as the pump is controlled by the body control module , depending on what signal is received from the switch.

Had the washers pack in on a 2005 Focus, it was the filter at the bottom of the bottle that was blocked. Free fix but time consuming.

No idea if there are separate outlets from the pump to the front and rear.

If you want a temporary cheap cheat , swap the pipes over at the pump . Just means you need to operate the rear wash function to get water into the front screen.

The way I'm reading your post, is that the washers and wipers don't work when the lever is in the off position and you press the washer button on the stalk.

Do the washers work when the stalk is in either the slow, fast or intermittant positions?

No the washers don`t work when I have the stalk in slow fast or intermittent positions.

I am hoping to get in contact with an auto electrician the week.
