VW Transporter - Where do I stand - Seamus70

Hi, I bought a ten year old VW Transporter Shuttle with 400k miles on from an independent dealer which being a VW was not cheap, on the day of collection it was working ok with no signs of any issues. On the journey back it worked ok but the following day it started to have issues and the engine lost power and started to make some clearly unsettling noises. After doing less than 300 miles in it, my local garage are saying the engine has had it. I did buy from a dealer and their warranty which is through another party have said it's wear and tear so won't cover it, the garage are digging their heals in basically saying the same thing as it showed not signs of issue and it was working at 'point of collection', do I have a right to reject?

You have a right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act, assuming you are a private "consumer".

How much did you pay for this? Can’t see any dealers giving a warranty on a vehicle with 400k on it .

I'm surprised anyone would pay out for one, even if it was the only one left .....
