Mondeo Mk 3 2 litre petrol

Duratec Mazda engine

Power loss, fuel problem diagnosed

New fuel pump. new fuel filter

Will start buit wont rev over 1500

No EML light, no codes on (cheap) OBD scanner

Not much to go wrong on these . How was a fuel pump fault diagnosed. ? I’d be looking at a blockage in the exhaust system somewhere.

Does the engine cut out at junctions, traffic lightsetc?

Had this on a Mondeo 2.0 diesel, was told fuel issue , but was camshaft positioning sensor. Was a cheap fix too.

Forgot to say .loud strange noise from air inlet box

Volume increases with revs

I'd say so! This problem started after work had been done on the engine, which would make me check very carefully that no pipes had been left off. Loud noise from the air inlet box suggests air is being drawn in from somewhere it shouldn't be.

Loud noise from the air box could mean the engine is being suffocated. I’d get the garage to remove the top lambda sensor to see if that improves the situation.
