Hi All
My car is a 2017 Clio so comes under a different rule regarding day time running lights and MOT, So i believe that if the day time running light isn't working , Then it won't effect the MOT.
I have just had a mayor service on my car and i knew that the passenger side day time running light was having issues and after the service i was made aware that the issue with the Day time running light would be a fail on the MOT because when you turn on the side lights, The Passenger side day time running light would turn off instead of dimming. I told the guy that my car comes under the old rules but told me that it didn't matter , it would fail.
So basically, When i am driving during the day , The DRL are on, But once i turn on the side lights, Both sides are meant to dim but only the drivers side dims.
The Guy at ATS thinks it may be a issue with the wiring and that i should see someone who deals in car electrics.
So i am looking for advice or if anyone else has had the same issue.
On another note, The car has a failed drivers side coil, So booked in to be replaced at a cost of £180, Not sure if that's a fair price
On the Gov web site it states Daytime running lights will be checked on vehicles first used from 1 March 2018 So I am unsure if the guy is correct or not.
legal or not, I will still need to fix the issue
PS , I am sure that he was saying that the daytime running lights are the sidelights hence the MOT Fail
