Omoda cars - movilogo

While in my dealership for servicing, noticed half dozen. Omoda cars in their glass house. They all look similar with distinct perforated grills.

Interior looks nice, like any other European brands.

These are not EVs.

Chinese cars are now mainstream.

Wrong

The 5 is an ICE car

The E5 is electric.

The clue is in the name.

Getting there - think most people will know MG is any - don't image most people will have heard of Omoda or BYD or Ora yet.

"You're absolutely right! While MG has a long-standing reputation, brands like Omoda, BYD, and Ora are still new to many. It's exciting to see these emerging brands making waves in the market, and I'm sure it won't be long before they become household names. Watching the evolution of the automotive industry with these fresh players is really fascinating!"

While MG has a long-standing reputation

What reputation is that? The original MG had a strong following for their MGA, MBG, Midget etc but the later cars of the "MG Rover" era were simply rebadged mainstream models (just like the 1100,1300 clones they sold in the 60's and 70's). Then along came the City Rover which was a cheap Indian car that MG Rover stuck a Union flag badge on and passed off as British and sold (possibly tried to sell is nearer the truth) at mainstream prices. For once the buying public saw past this nonsense and the company folded.

The current MG products are manufactured by SAIC in China and have no connection with the original MG cars made in the UK. Not 100% certain but I think that the only other brand manufactured by SAIC and sold in the UK is the Maxus commercial range.

It's more MG is a know brand, IMO. Omoda could be a loo cleaner brand. Indeed, the Chinese are coming but I personally can't see all the brands taking a meaningfull foothold, nor do I anticipate owning one in the future.

Depends on how well they are made and last, coming from where they do makes people weary of them, though some I gather think MG are made in England

They will - which I expect is one reason they bought the brand as people will not know they are not the British brand.
