BMW 1 Series 2019 - Why doesn't my subwoofer have much woof?!! - Daniel Payne

So I own a 2019 BMW 1 series.

The sound system was already decent but I wanted to add more bass.

I bought this:

And this wiring kit:

www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-amps-and...l

I installed it following a video I found on Youtube.

The sub is working but the additional bass is barely even noticeable.

I have attached a few pictures. I know the wires are messy - I was planning to solder them once I had it working properly.

The battery and fuse box are in the boot of my car.

- The power cable goes directly to the positive terminal of the battery.

- Ground wire to a bolt on the chassis.

- I used a fuse piggyback thingy to connect the remote wire to the fuse for the 12v sockets.

- I cut the ends off the RCA cables and spliced the wires to both the existing rear speakers using cable lock connectors.

Is there something about the way I have wired it that is reducing performance, or do I need to buy a better one?

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks

I would start by removing those blue scotch lock connectors and make a proper solder joint onto the speaker wiring . These blue connectors are too big for the gauge of wiring on the car and don’t make good contact.

Not trying to be a smarty pants, but have you tried turning the gain up?

With the way it's wired has the subwoofer become out of phase with existing speakers? - ie subwoofer cone goes forward , all the of he speakers go backwards. This effectively reduces perceived bass. Sometimes there is a switch on subwoofers to swap phase 180 deg.
