Hi,

does anyone know of anywhere in the Southampton area that will hire a Transit type van to a 21yr old?
I know its cheeky, but im at work and cant surf the net all day searching - though a quick look and most places only hire to over 23 yr olds (easy car/Budget etc)

I only need it for a day - girlfriend's gonna be movin house... deep joy!

Try one of the Ford Dealers. I hired a Transit from Dibden Ford when i was 21/22 ish.....

I'm sure many places will hire a van to a 21 yr old but you must have a clean licence with no accidents.

I think the lower age limit is 25 but it might be less depending on insurance options.

By asking you.

When you hire the van (they never ask you over the phone) they will say:

1. Are you over 25
2. Have you not had any accidents in the last 3 years
3. Do you have a driving licence.

When you answer 'yes' to all 3 questions, they will get you to sign a piece of paper confirming this. This then validates the insurance.

What happens if you lie? I seem to recall there is a law about requiring insurance when you drive a vehicle... You might as well lie to them as not bother to insure your own car.
