Asking for a friend.
Car does few miles in a year, generally less than 3000.
Battery has gone flat and died, was replaced some months back.
Friend had cambelt done a few months back and used occasionally since, Took the car to local Grage who always does his MOT's and had also done the cam belt.
Car passed zero problems. Drove home and parked in front of house, went to open garage door, car will not start. AA came and spent a good while trying to fault find. No luck.
Car taken to Garage who cannot find a fault, but do not have ford diagnostic software.
Car waiting to go into ford dealer.
No warning lights showing, but Garage "suspect" instrument cluster problem (apparently common) repair cost if unit sent off about £150 ish + vat plus labour to remove etc. Ford main dealer will obviously be more if a new instrument cluster.
Other thoughts are ECU failure New ECU is abot £750 plus vat plus fitting, but all of the above depend on Ford dealer diagnostics. There is an indie with access to the software but 4 week wait.
Thoughts, especially Eleki and AC doc?
