Peugeot 107 - Peugeot 107 2013 screeching when taking off - Tx1981
Car when first starting is screeching when taking off. Noise persists for first 5-10 mins of drive and is worse on bends. Any advice most appreciated.

loose fan belt

or clutch release bearing, water pump, alternator bearing, wheel bearing, brake pad worn down, stone or similar stuck between brake pad and disc.

You'll need to give a better explanation of how and when it happens and whether the noise changes with road or engine speed, at present we're only guessing.

I too think its probably fan belt slipping, on bends the power steering will add load to the atlternator hence, i believe these belts have an automatic tensioner, after slipping for some time the belt will be heat damaged, suggest renew it, if it carries on slipping afterwards then either water pump or alternator is proving harder to turn than they should or tensioner weak so further investigation may be needed.

Don’t think it’s going to be the power steering as it’s electric on these and not driven by any belt.

Won't it put an extra load on the alternator when turning?

When driving, the pas is doing very little, so no major load on the alternator.

It is autumn - so fan belt squeak season!

Since its reported worse on bends, that might suggest bearing or CV joint wear, otherwise it sounds like ancilliary drive belt slippage.
