Toyota Aygo - Dipstick stuck - Halmerend

Tried to check the oil level on my neighbour’s Aygo and it appeared to be stuck. She was going on a long journey so didn’t dare to yank it in case it snapped off. Any ideas please? Do you have to twist it/turn it on this model or something? It’s about three years old.

It’s just a pull out stick . Give it a slight twist In each direction may just release the stick.,
