Kia Picanto - Gearbox problems - Wayn

I am after advice on my gearbox. My car is a 2014 Kia Picanto.

Last week as I was driving and my clutch went. I looked down and saw some sort of clip had come off.

I was in the middle lane of a busy road. I had to force my car back into gear a couple of times so I could get off to a side road. I then had to call a recovery vehicle to take my card home.

I had the clutch fixed and I think a new clutch cable was put in.

There is now something wrong with the gearbox. Sometimes going from neutral to first or reverse won’t happen. I have to keep on trying. Also, sometimes when I am driving, I can hear a slight noise when going into second gear.

I have some questions

1) Do you think my gearbox can be fixed?

2) f 2) If it cannot be fixed roughly how much will it cost to have a new gearbox fitted?

3)If t3) If the gearbox needs replacing would I be able to get a second had one from an online car sc***yard?

4) If I do get a second hand gearbox roughly how much will it cost to get it fitted?

If its an adjustable type clutch cable it possibly needs adjusting.

If its a self adjusting cable, it might need some trickery to set it in the right place (owners forum probably best bet for the right method here, sometimes you need to manually lift the clutch pedal up with your hand), or it might have been fitted slightly badly missing a washer washer or clip.

Unless you ham fistedly smashed the gears in when 'clutchless' you shouldn't have damaged the box itself, i would checking out yon clutch cable before considering another gearbox.

No slight against you if you have nicked a gear, it's usually only old foggies like us who've been brought up on nursing constant mesh or synchro boxes with worn out synchros that are adept at clutchless driving and'or cordinating gears engine and road speeds for seamless changes sans clutch..

Yes, take.it back to whoever did the work and ask them to adjust the clutch.
