How to sell old car - John Shelton
I have just ordered a new car and have an old Proton MPi 1.5 SE Automatic saloon to dispose of. The new car is due delivery on 1st March and I need my old car until then for commuting to work etc. I kept it out of the deal on the new car because it may have soured the deal. Its a 1993 model and has 82k on it and has tax and mot until end of September Its in pretty good condition overall.

Is it best to stick it in the local admag? AS regards value I was thinking in the region of £300.

I would. Your situation is sort of half way between the person with the G-reg Sunny and the one with the (X?)-reg Micra. If it proves troublesome to shift, you could always stick it on eBay for a quid with no reserve.

Price wise, £300 sounds about right. Ask for £350 so they think they're getting something off, at least at first. Also, if you can find a decent, cheap MoT centre in your area, that you trust, you might get more than the cost of the MoT back.

What did you decide to get in the end?

Hi dave, I got an excellent deal on a Mitsubishi carisma 1.9 DiD Equipe. Had a long test run in it and its a good car. Meets all forseable needs for the next 10 years LOL. Including 3 years free servicing and 0% "rent" LOL.

As regards the Proton Ive had it nearly 4 years and its never broken down and has X4, 6 month old tyres. Its been a faitful servant. Trusty but not rusty LOL.

You could use the car as a moving advertisement as well. An A5 sized advert placed on either side of the rear door windows with the price and phone number.
