Has anyone yet seen one of the new fangled "Home Zone" signs, and if so, are they actually on streets that have no tarmac, as some tabloids seemed to imply they would be? I've never seen one (Cambridge area).

No, but I'm very worried about the use of the word "informatory". Can't we stop this murdering of a beautiful language by officials with nothing better to do?
Also of concern is the change of meaning of signs and road markings, which of course no-one will keep up with after they've passed their tests. As for the idea that cyclists would bother to stop at a red light....laughable!

I was going to jump in there with terryb, but Mr Webster does list "informatory" and claims it originated in about 1879. Probably can't blame the other nation from which we are divided by a common language for that one, then, and it isn't telling you to contact one of Mr Howard's flock because it's one word and in lower case.
Excruciatingly, also listed is the adverb "informatorily"...ugh.
Must go, thre BR equivalent of the blue pen must be hovering somewhere....

Shame on you terryb. Obviously every driver buys a copy of the Highway Code at least once a year and mugs up.
Actually, a straw poll might be interesting. I for example (should I admit this?) passed in 1980, and since then have bought ONE new copy of the code, about five years ago, and read it. And there WERE some changes I didn't know about, or had forgotten, and I vowed to do it annually. Now I think about it I'd best get a new copy I think - one refresh of knowledge in 24 years of driving isn't that brilliant, is it!

Mr Webster is of course an American dictionary, as in "Morocco Bound"! So I stand by my earlier posting and it ain't in my Oxford English Dictionary. Still room for you to jump in Growler!
Oh, for the record, I passed my test in 1967, bought and read a new copy of the Code about 10 years ago and I read the online version about 2 years ago. So I do at least try to keep up even if not as frequently as I should!

just a thought, it could supplement your pension DVD, would mean I wouldn't have to work such long hours to keep it solvent!
