I rather fancy a late model 5 series about 2000/2001. I have noticed some that look rather smart with a factory body kit called the sport. The suspension is firmer and they have some extras. Since the fuel economy is similiar on all of them I thought I would treat myself to the 528 or 530. Any thoughts from owners?
Cheers

I'm not an owner, but the 3 litre diesel is widely regarded as the best diesel engine around.

Evo, a Magazine for people who like performance cars rather than people who like adding up MPG figures, reckon the BMW 3.0D is better in the real world than the 3.0i.
Get the 530d Sport :)

Hi Peter
Best car I have ever owned (528 SE), had mine for 6 yrs and have been trying to replace for the last year, but when it comes down to it nothing has really jumped out as a must have. Mine is fairly low milage 35k and only thing repaired was electric actuator on boot release. As usual look for full service and get as many goodies as possible heated leather and full aircon is a must (but I live in Aberdeen) there are a lot of good 5s on the market. Ignor the image issues and go for it. As a general comment one of the best Q cars available is a B10 V8 these are serious cars and prices are dropping as too specialised for most people.
Good luck

530d. I almost love it now -it is a brilliant car by any standard. Lacks the character of the 330d I "owned" and still see now and again.

I drive the 525 SE sport petrol.
Perfect.
110,000 faultfree miles.
Serviced according to the service indicator - meaning 5 oil changes so far (at approx 20k miles each) and 2 changes plugs ( at 40k and 80k)!! Next oil & plugs change due in about 4 weeks.
The ultimate drive slogan is well deserved IMO
