Could someone help me please.

Only on the left-hand side, the indicator lights are flashing a lot quicker all of a sudden. Right-hand side, i.e. driver's side normal.

That’s usually an indication that one of the bulbs is not working.

Yes, that's the traditional giveaway. Set the indicator, then get out and check what is happening outside.

Or an LED replacement has been fitted, but you would probably know that, and you can in any case sometimes get away with it.

Or perhaps dodgy electrical connection on a fifteen year old car?

My understanding (such as it is) was that fast flashing is due to a lower resistance or a lower electrical load, which might be caused by a bulb out, or fitting an LED.

Harder to see how a bad connection could cause this.

But I should probably give up on trying to understand car electrics.

A bad connection would be the same as having a bulb out.

Open circuit, higher resistance.

Oh yeh.

Lower load, then. Which would also fit the LED effect?

So it would. Duh!

My bad

Thank you all, it was a defective indicator bulb on the opposite side. Well done.

When the indicator lights flash more quickly than usual, it typically indicates that there is a problem with the turn signal circuit. The faster flashing is caused by the turn signal flasher compensating for a reduced load in the circuit, which can occur if a bulb has burnt out or is not making proper contact.

Since you mentioned that the issue is only on the left-hand side, it is likely that the problem is with a bulb or socket on the left-hand side of the vehicle. Start by checking the left turn signal bulbs to see if any are burnt out or not making proper contact. You can do this by turning on the left turn signal and observing the bulbs to see if any are not lighting up or are flashing at a different rate than the others. If you find a bulb that is not working or flashing at a different rate, try replacing it and see if that resolves the issue.
