Daihatsu Skywing / Any? - Flasher Module wont/cant fully seat - edlithgow

Just noticed this oddity.

On both my fuse panels, (spare and installed) the flasher socket has a 3-4mm peg in each corner, with no corresponding recesses in the two flasher modules (Which are not the same. One of them is taller and has a central hole).

This means the modules have 3-4 mm of the contact prongs showing.

I suppose its just possible that this is for cooling, but it seems more likely that the flasher modules are the wrong part.

Looks like they should still make contact OK, though, so I doubt its the cause of my indicator malfunction.

Anyone seen this before?

Might be a good idea to buy a newer / more reliable car.

It would save you many many hours of angst.

You appear to be answering a question that I di9dn't ask..

Knock me dahn wiv a fevva!

Heres another one.

If THIS fairly primitive, computer-free car can give me this amount of electrical angst, how much more could a newer one inflict?

Quite a lot more, I would think.

On you tube, There are one or two motors that even a diagnostics expert couldn`t put right, all because the owner fitted second hand parts, they caused a problem whereby the diagnostics was giving different fault codes after one error code was fixed, this happened for a week ie different codes popping up, so he advised the owner to replace all second hand parts with new

neither did so, so he couldn`t put either right

So this is where simples is best, cars have become over complicated and expensive, even if you do know what you are doing
