Why Fords? Probably since at one time Fords were very popular so it built from that fifteen years ago or more.
But they don't make up 99.9% of cars on the road, do they? Why do Fords seemingly need codes for their ICE that either other makes don't (whether relatively new or very second hand)? My old 90s Micra had an OEM for its DIN-sized radio-cassette player, which could be changed by the user (or at a dealership) rather like on any modern electronic device.
Are owners of Fords so forgetful that they don't bother to write the code down or change it / get it changed to one they can remember? Seems odd to me.
