I have a Ford Escort 1.4L 1988 E Reg, which I've had for a couple of years now. I recently had a new set of springs fitted (front and rear) to pass an MoT, but ever since then I've noticed that the steering seems to pull to the side. Sometimes it is very marked but other times it is only slight; it is usually worse after making a full-lock turn and it can veer to the left or the right. I have had the wheel alignment checked and that is fine. I originally thought it may be a suspension problem, i.e. worn dampers, which had only become noticeable when new springs were fitted, but surely this would result in the car veering to one side only and would happen all the time.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Have you taken the vehicle back to the repairers ?
If there is no obvious fault with the steering or suspension, then you could have a problem with the brakes. Possibly a siezed / seizing caliper, or even a blocked flexible hose (acting like a non return valve).
Go for a drive, and touch your front road wheels - see if one is hotter than the other (signifiying brake binding).

You may not have a problem.Apart from possible under inflated tyre`s as you said if it was a front brake problem it would be there most of the time.I think it may be a case of the car is riding slightly higher off the road and so and difference in camber of the road is now more noticeable than you are used to.I expect someone will correct me if I`m wrong but I think that is what you are experiencing.ride must be better though
