I always quite liked these, once Rover had sorted out the problems with the early cars, these were quite well sorted and were good value used. The facelift worked well. The 827 was the Honda engine so reliable but probably quite thirsty.
Thrashing one did around 12 mpg, 827 Si I had just managed 28 in town, I had wanted one for years but couldn`t find a good one, most were bad bodies ie slightly dented and priced as immaculate, but found a one owner who looked after it fully serviced, he bought a BMW instead so sold the Rover, I only sold it 2 years later as tappets wanted doing but didn`t have time to sort, so sold it. good car imo
