Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1560 Diesel - Serious Dipped Beam Problem on Citroen C4 GPicasso - johnnyd57uk

I have had this car for nearly a year. It has 10k on the clock. I dont drive it at night as the dipped beam is so poor its dangerous. I upgraded the bulbs to Philips GT200 but the car is still unsafe to drive because of poor visibility. I took it to Halfords and no problems on their machine. Took it to Citroen and again no problems found on their machine.

I am going to get caught in the dark at some point and am dreading it. Throw is poor and pattern is jagged. Looked online and a few people have had similar problems but obviously not enough for a recall. Its not the bulbs, Could it be the electrics, the lens or the glass. Where coulkd I take it to have it properly checked. I am desperate so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ANy competent garage can check for light alignment and throw. As you have had it checked twice it sounds like they should be OK. Can you try and similar car and see if it is just yours with the problem?

Check the battery connections, battery health, and battery earth. Check the bulb holder for corrosion or poor connection. Keep the light glass clean.

Last suggestion maybe your new bulbs are faulty? Apply 12v to the bulb and see what happens- they should be very bright!

If the alignment is correct and the bulbs are working, I doubt there’s much else you can do. Sounds like style over function. Don’t recommend interfering with the wiring , the lights on these are electronically controlled.

Strange you should mention that. I read a user review online who mentioned that the dipped beam was so poor he returned the car and "style over functiuon" was his exact comment. However with so many of these on the road and few other owners complaining about this I think it cant be a universal problem.

Car is as new. 9k miles when bought. 10k now. Battery is good. Glass is is in perfect condition as is reflector. Bulbs are fine as I went from GE to Osram Night Breakers to Philips Racing Vision. All produced the same problem. Main beam is excellent btw.

I did plan to to try and video the problem on an unlit road with the missus in tow but we had to return pretty nifty as it was too dangerous. Dont know anyone with a similar model but that would be a good idea. Ive got a long road trip coming up in June about 1.5k miles and have booked hotels along the way tro avoid night driving. Yep its that bad.

Finally at my age my sight isnt perfect. Last time it was checked it was fine so I think I can discount that.

Thank you for replying.
