BMW X1 Petrol - Oil top up - Redcar01

So I need to top up the oil on my X1 petrol which has no dipstick so how much do I need to pit in , its just above the low limit and want it to go to the high limit , is 1 ltr too much

If you go into the I drive service menu , it should show how much is needed to top up to max . I would not put more than 0.5 litre to start with .

As above I drive or Hand book. On a 2litre 3 series the oil light will come on and the I drive instructs you to add 1 litre. BMW seem quite happy for owners to wait for the light. If you are topping before the light comes on be very careful NOT to overfill.

So oil just above low , drive 300 miles and the oil shows on max , is that right ?

Different models have different ways of checking oil level . Some are done with warm running engine . Check instructions in the manual or the I drive service guide .
