Audi a4 tdi - Shake on accerlating - Roy Brown

Hi, on my 2013 audi a4 2.0 tdi with 110k miles it shakes when accelerating on throttle, for example 60mph in 6th gear and put your foot in gradually the shake goes though the car and can see the gear stick shaking. The shake seems to be able to be controlled with the throttle, doesn't seem to come through the steering wheel

I have had it checked over by a reputable mechanic and he could not see anything wrong in terms of cv joints etc. He also done some road tests measuring fuel and boost pressure but all appeared normal. One thing he did say was the clutch appeared to be that of what you would expect with the miles but said there was no apparent flywheel or release bearing noise.

I know the chances of diagnosing this over a forum are very slim but just interested to see if this has happened anyone else before under the same circumstances?

Doesn’t sound like a dmf fault. Usually get a rattle at idle when this fails. Not sure if this model has active (electronic) engine mounts. May be worth investigating. It’s possible this fault could flag up in engine control system.

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, I had a car before with DMF issues, this is not the same.

I had the car on a friends lift but we both did not see anything particular wrong with the engine\gearbox mounts, no apparent tears and no leaks indicating the oil was leaking from them.

Would it be possible this is something occurring from the emissions recall done on these cars?

I had these exact symptoms on a mk5 golf gt tdi. Noticeable only in 6th when under load and frustratingly intermittent. As you said if on light throttle no issue but put it under load you could feel the car shake. A workshop changed my MAF sensor to no avail.

I didn’t spend much trying to troubleshoot it and decided to part-ex it. On the few days leading up to the part-ex it became constant in 6th but also effected 4th and 5th.

I added a super chip to my car which had been in it up until the problem started - to this day I’m convinced it contributed to the issue. My car only had 80k on it and the problems started at 65k.

If I was a betting man my money would be on the injector fault.
