Came across this site, which may be of use/interest, especially when buying a car. You key in a VIN number and it gives you details of make, model and when and where the vehicle was built:
www.autobaza.pl/
It's in Polish, but you'll get the hang of it!

Thanks Ian!
Even an English version there too!
Seems to work quite well

I'll ask Martyn to add this to The Scratchpad at www.honestjohn.co.uk so it's permanently handy for everyone.

Alvin,
Perhaps your DTi was built from parts tossed from a passing parts bin, with a VIN number to match?
Opel Frontier maybe the name the Vectra has abroad?

Ian,
just tried your site..
My car a vauxhall vectra DT1 comes up as a Opel Frontier with a 2.2 engine assembled in Luton.
Put the number in several times so I think they haven't got it quite right yet.

Oh well...call that one a near miss then! Glad it's been of use to some though. It was spot-on for my car, even down to the fact that it was part-built in one plant and finished in another.
